My name is Cathy Sidaway. I am a Doula and HypnoBirthing Practitioner based between Harrogate and York covering the North Yorkshire region.

I work under the banner of Nurtured Beginnings as the name sums up my approach to helping women and their partners enjoy stress-free and more natural births. I believe that the way a child is born will impact heavily on its early life and the more natural their welcome into the world, the better.

 

I am passionate about what I do and began formally practicing HypnoBirthing after using my qualification in Clinical Hypnotherapy to help close friends overcome issues and fears relating to pregnancy. I strongly believe in equipping parents with confidence and a positive mental attitude to embrace the birthing journey ahead, with a tool box of techniques to assist in allowing the body to work in harmony with birthing muscles.

 

Similarly, I opted to train as a Doula after attending friends’ births as their birthing partners and realising the difference having a continuity of care made to birthing mothers and expectant dads. Having someone there to hold your hand, whose sole focus is you and your baby goes a long way to help instill confidence and security at a time when new experiences might feel overwhelming. I fully recognise the importance of empowering birthing mums to believe in their own innate ability to trust their bodies and birth naturally.

 

I am passionate about you achieving the birth you would love and I can support your journey either solely as your Doula or by teaching you how to use a suite of HypnoBirthing tools. Alternatively, I can work with you across both disciplines to offer you total support at this most exciting time in your life.
